Description

The Benny Farm development project satisfies the use and density criteria set by the Task Force, while fostering the creation of a neighbourhood that is firmly integrated with the surrounding NDG community. This is accomplished in a very straightforward way, by building a new network of public spaces, according to the traditional pattern of NDG streets and parks. This establishes a simple and logical cadastral structure for the development of the site. Since the new street grid is aligned with the most important and interesting elements of the existing Benny Farm buildings, it allows for the harmonious integration of much of the existing housing stock with the proposed buildings. The development project maintains the essential characteristics of the site - generous courtyards, green spaces and low-rise construction - while strengthening the clarity of the public and the private domains.
