Pied-à-terre
Pied-à-terre is a barefoot garden.
Designed to provide an unconventional experience to the visitor, catering to sensual probes that are not often utilized in the garden experience - the ones on the soles of our feet. The simple act of removing one's shoes allows us to enter into a different state of mind distant from everyday setting, initially foreign, but liberating in time. This alternative, unique way of sensing the garden elevates each visitor to their own private paradise.
The composition of colors and materials is inspired by the work of Marcelle Ferron, a Québécoise painter and stained glass artist. The garden does not aim to reproduce the work of art, only to provide a poetic representation of it.
Fabrics are used as flower petals, urging the visitor to step co them in contrast with the urban gardens that limit access to predetermined paths. Natural vegetation provides islands of untouchable/separated areas.
