Dreamgrove.org
Dreamgrove.org is accessible from a webpage and a garden. It contains dreams. The webpage records them in a public, virtual field; the garden narrates them through an interactive soundscape.
13 fruit trees, 3 holes and seating are arranged in 4 quadrants of different ground cover, through a central walkway. An embedded field of small spheres contains the infrastructural components: piezo-electric, motion and atmospheric sensors, speakers, lights, and irrigation. Entering through a white-noise perimeter, the visitor crosses 3 sound-zones: a standby whisper of narrations and plant noise (holes); a soundscape of live, fed back footsteps, atmosphere and plant noise (walkway); and transmitted dream narrations (proximity to tree).
In time, the plants and electronics of the garden become incorporated. Environmental changes and the fructification of trees are fed back into the digital archive. The garden is a hearing-aid, through plants, to the human unconscious: an otherworld, collective experience of private narratives that are never fully owned.
