Fata Morgana
One doesn't have to die first to have access to paradise, when you have a garden." (Persian lore)
Some traditional elements of the Persian garden, such as water, light and shade, are interpreted in a modern way and transferred into a garden-installation. Depending on the daytime and the weather different pictures will display themselves to the visitor, created through reflection and refraction of light and the casting of shadows. Reflections from many pixels show themselves on the ground, an the plants and when looking to the sky. The many overlapping layers create a diffuse picture of reality - like a `fata morgana'. And wind bings the walls to whisper.
Three out of nine "islands" are featured with fine nozzles. They create a specific microclimate within the garden and when hit by sunlight rainbows will occur. The walls are made of net-like connected nylon cords. At the crossings little plastic-pixels are placed. On some of the walls and roofs pixel-patterns of traditional Persian carpets can be seen. A path of glass leads through the garden. The installation is framed by Sweet Alyssum, filling the air with a scent of honey.
