The terrestrial heaven of Dante
The project draws inspiration from the famous work "the Comedy" by Dante Alighieri *. The poem is divided in three parts, called ''cantiche'' (Hell, Purgatory and Heaven). The poet recounts a trip through the three after death kingdoms that will lead him to the vision of the Trinity.
Matelda, the "soul" of our garden, is the only inhabitant of the terrestrial Heaven, a place in which the souls come from the Purgatory. There the waters of two rivers flow, the Letè river
that, as already for the ancient poets, cancels the memory of the sins committed in life and the Eunoè, that reminds the memory the good actions. Once immersed in these waters, the souls of the penitents will finally be ready to go to Heaven.
Matelda has the assignment to favour this purification, she is the representation of happiness, of humanity in harmony with the Creator.
