Meadow, bridge, idol
A landscape of improvisation: Visitors facing the seemingly incomprehensible complexity of nature, find their own way, carving paths into the landscape.
Moveable boardwalks, laid into narrow lines with plenty more available by the
entrance, invite the brave to blaze trails to the garden market, the hammocks, the open stockade, to try their hand at gardening or to witness the mysterious and half burnt idols holding silent their long memory.
This burnt out meadow is a post-apocalyptic paradise, sheltering both a new beginning and a secret locked deep inside the six wooden idols.
As the landscape is cleared by walking paths and re-vegetated to be cleared again what emerges is the footprint of shifting patterns of disturbance.
The result is a map of our relationship with our natural past, the ability of nature to structure our inhibitions and delights and our own ability to translate mystery into physical presence.
