Orchard
Set within a design space that takes symbolic Inspiration from the Garden of Eden, 'Orchard' Is an exciting demonstration of the vitality and enthusiasm with which nature colonises redundant, Inhospitable terrain.
The surfaces of today's urbanised world are frequently subjugated by the cracked concrete of ''industrial parks'' and the barren scree of motorway Islands. 'Orchard' attempts to explode ails no-man's land, to stimulate remembrance of a more natural landscape.
Over stony ground visitors enter through silent ranks of pale, lifeless trees, alongside a swathe of red ''apples'', shiny sinister echoes of nature's fall. At the heart of the space they discover the ''bomb'' a towering, verdant, organic cylinder. Lush planting tantalises from the ''plateau'' above.
Wildflower sowings and tendrils of bold, vibrant grasses radiate forth from this hub to create a new ecological and environmental habitat a colourful hopeful, colonising canvas that springs to life throughout the summer months.
