Vancouver is fortunate to have so many different modes of mobility available, each system offers different destinations in and out of the city, however they are disconnected and work autonomously. This investigation is specific to: the Skytrain, the Westcoast Express, the Canadaline, the Seabus, the Harboulynx, and Helijet. Ail these modes terminate in the vicinity of the Waterfront Sta tion in an accidentai form. The awkward state of the connecting spaces reduces it pleasantness and ultimately reduces its rider ship. This is a unique opportunity to create a Multi-Modal Transportation Station.
The transportation station is a covered space, due to Vancouver's mild climate it acts pri
marily as a shelter from the rain. The fritted glass reduces the amount of heat gain in
the summer months and the large openings allow air to flow through the space naturally
cooling it. The lanice patterning of the steel structure supports the seawall which wrap
up and then clown the perimeter, designed to direct the users to see specific landmarks
in Vancouver's landscape.
The five internat buildings contain a wide variety of programs, such as a tourism centre,
internet cafe, restaurants, offices and so forth. Their coloured glass and views to land
marks beyond aid users to understand where they and clear views of transportation
modes allow users to know where they need to go. The architecture encourages rider
ship.
