Description

The public realm of a neighbourhood is the canvas on which a community imprints its identity. This identity is sometimes expressed in the use of the place, sometimes in its distinctive design. Ideally, form and social content represent the unique character of a community.

It is in this recognition of the value of public space that the redevelopment of the rights-of-way of Paré, Buchan and Victoria Streets, between Jean-Talon and La Savane Streets, constitutes the proper place for a project that conveys the needs and desires of the local community and of the borough.

The limitation of the place of the automobile and the implementation of shared roadways make it possible to return large sections of the asphalt and concrete rights-of-way to a qualified public domain:
- Linear landscapes supporting ecological principles for capturing and treating stormwater and even snow.
- Community gardens promoting urban agriculture and community socialization.
