East-Side-City: Diversity is the new order of the world
This proposal aims to diminish the mental divide between the 'west end' and the east side'. It will provide badly needed recreational facility in this part of the city and return some 'authentic life' to the east-enders, with 8 kilometers of shoreline amenity and a sandy beach in a 90ha park. A vision that calls for an integration of ecological and social infra-restructuring to the new east-side west end.
Dismantling and Reconstituting the "East-Side" in a Disordered City
There are fundamentally three new geometries - each with their own dynamics, rhythms and individual characteristics: the natural landscape, the aquatic landscape + the urban landscape. Our purpose has been to envision an urban way of living that frees individuals within a community from restricting conventions of thought and action, in order to realize more fully than is presently possible to answer the question, "What is human?'' Adopting a free zone space - an urban planning approach that aims at inducing the sensory experience. Both vivid and lucid, each is in a constant state of flux: first in time, then in place and finally in person (human).
Interventions in Hydrology - HYDRARCH
No water, no life. A simple formula and as a fascinating design means, water becomes a focus in this proposal. Water is a precious commodity, a vital resource - we are dependent on water but also endangered by it. But rising water levels and the increasingly heavy inland rains now diversely create new challenges. It is essential to integrate water dynamically in our living space, wherever and however it may occur. The challenge is combining striking design with sustainable water management in usable urban spaces. A vision that calls for integration of an ecological and social infrastructure for an emerging East-Side West End.
Natural Reed-Bed Water Filter Precinct
An ecological plan that converts ocean and grey waters using 12ha of reed-bed natural reserve to purify the water. This proposal is two-fold - firstly it aims to diminish the mental divide between the 'west-end' and the 'east-side'. It will provide badly needed recreational facility in this part of the city and return some 'authentic life' to the east-enders, with 8 kilometers of shoreline and sandy beach! Secondly, the aim is to encourage people to be more mindful when dumping waste into the oceans and rivers; after all, you might end up swimming in it!
