Based on our research, we have observed that the surrounding of the bus stop type 2 (Cadillac station) area is not the safest. Our goal for the bus stop would be to create a more welcoming as well as safer environment for the people waiting for the bus. Keeping the original bus stop intact, we would add an extension to the shelter completely made out of wood. It would be a rectangular green roof featuring an interactive light source wall. Therefore, creating a visually attractive rest area at day and a safer environment at night.
The wood structure will feature a lot of light sources, therefore improving the feeling of safety at night. Wooden laths placed in a horizontal fashion with LED light incorporated would cover the roof underneath the garden as well as creating a wall at the end of the structure. The laths have a Japanese feel which sets a relaxing mood. These LEDs wouldn't be facing towards the user of the shelter to avoid dazzling them. Instead they would be hidden to create a softer light. Regarding the wall, the user would be able to rotate the laths as they please, in order to create a play of lights.
There will be a garden on the roof to be more environmentally friendly as well as adding a touch of natural life in a dull and industrial surrounding (hospitals and shops). The garden will reduce the amount of heat penetrating the bus shelter as the shadows casted from the garden will result in creating a more comfortable and chiller air. The garden roof would also cover dark surface, in this case the asphalt, absorbing solar radiation. The result is improving the air quality by reducing the heat island effect and absorbing pollutants.

This proposal received a mention because of its claim for a principle of conservation, which is as simple as it is strong: to work with the existing resources and natural entities. The principle is generalizable and it especially reminds us that all pre-existing conditions of any design situation carry a potential of invention.
