The importance of living in a healthy and safe place, in sociality with the other house inhabitants and neighbors, represents the main focus of the H_M_H, Home_Maple_Home.
The principle of the house is the free space disposal around the inner court, the place where people can meet each other. These free spaces are delimited by wooden prefabricated panels 60x60 cm. The result is an easy building and highly versatile house for any need.
The structure is composed by perimeter and partitions walls which support a special v-shape double pitch roof. One of the pitch is faced to the south with solar panels on it and the other, facing the north, has a green extensive garden upon.
The Trombe walls, in recycled concrete, allow to store up heat inside the house; the earth floor absorbs heat and slowly release it when there is a temperature difference between the mass and the surrounding space.
The broad windows illuminate each room assuring the minimal need of artificial light. The outside garden shows the planting of deciduous trees that permit the light to enter in during the winter.
Every material used for the building arrives from the 100 miles around Vancouver!
The H_M_H, because of its simplicity and adaptability, represent a model of sustainability easy to build not just in Vancouver but almost everyhere!
