Long before time, there was the sun, filling our system with life as we know it. The nature of all life begins with this one word.....The sun.
It is here we will start our journey.
The sun encompasses us in all our life, giving us our soul, our bread, our warmth. It awakens us, and moves us forward. The nature of our plan is the same, it is free flowing providing light and warmth to all our spaces in a very simple gesture.
The interior living spaces reflect both to the garden and to the living roof garden in a gentle manner as a bee to a flower. Both exterior and interior walls are of rammed earth construction, along with our earthen floor, grounding the building in material and form. Designed and orientated to take the best advantage of solar energy, its high thermal mass provides both active and passive radiant heating.
As the sun touches all, we move to the roof where photovoltaics provide additional energy. Our path continues to the warmth of our earth where geothermal provides our heating, cooling and hot water. With our abundant supply of natural soft rainwater, water harvesting supplies our home's needs.
As our journey is never ending, our lives are enriched and complimented by the natural gifts of our planet. We are one. We must take care, we must embrace what life offers to us in gifts and live life as a whole.
