RIBBON
RIBBON, first inspired by the thread used by those exploring caverns to allow for a safe backtracking method, in addition to being a tool for wayfinding - has exploded into somethings akin to the original wayfinding and backtracking techniques, otherwise known as navigation, while taking advantage of the topography, air, and movement contrasted by angular complexes that are reflected through RIBBON's form; angular, led by the walls and floors guiding hallways and experiences, which bursts from the constraints of the CEPSUM building and Winter Stadium into a more relaxed reflection of the surrounding landscape.
The relaxed forms of RIBBONs passages transforming into angular forms aim to offer guidance to those unfamiliar with the building layout safely to their desired destination as efficiently as possible. This is accomplished through a plethora of adaptations including added cut ins/outs of the building to allow for existing and proposed monuments surrounding and including the site to be in a wider field of vision throughout the site, aiding in proper orientation for all. In addition to safety and efficiency, RIBBON imbues the multi athletic site with a new definition of inclusivity detailed by the high contrast walkways, braille and largely printed signs on the interior and exterior forms of RIBBON, a minimal amount of ACA ruled ramps, and elevators, that go above and beyond ACA guidelines to help all navigate to their intended destination. Additional amenities included with RIBBON are scenic paths, new and emboldened viewpoints, spectator seating, connections to the surrounding park/gardens, and an opening for discussion including the surrounding landscapes affects within the building in special regard to inclusiveness to all in the diverse use of the sports complex'.
It is a necessity for all to be able to navigate safely and efficiently to their destinations in public buildings, however, there is beauty and art oftentimes missed in the implicit wayfinding.

This proposal was the only one to propose use of the space behind the CEPSUM, an under-exploited area used by students. The approach would have benefited from more details on rationale for ribbon as the route is long and not intuitive. The proposal connects the busy side doors, which is a positive point for accessibility, allowing direct access to the 4th floor without having to go back down to the street.
