MÉMOIRE ET MOUVEMENT
Fluid architecture that reinterprets memories and activate the senses
The concept "Mémoire en Mouvement" arises from the fusion of body, space, and time. The project's formal approach is anchored in organic and fluid lines, evoking the continuous movement of the body in sports practice.
This project is born from the desire to requalify an existing space, preserving its memory and original materiality while proposing a new spatial narrative -- more fluid, sensorial, and intentional. The aim is not to erase what exists, but to reinterpret its history through a contemporary language that is lighter, more inclusive, and dynamic. The creation of a memorial along the corridor reinforces this preservation, transforming a passage into an immersive experience.
The intervention reorganizes circulation and expands accessibility through two wide staircases connecting corridors to the upper locker rooms and pool. The former narrow access was closed, remaining only for users of the lower locker room. The upper locker rooms were reconfigured, balancing male and female areas and redesigning the layout to improve flow and privacy. In the swimming area, the addition of windows on the southeast façade and skylights in the slab ensures soft natural lighting and a connection with the exterior. In the corridor, replacing a wall with a guardrail opened circulation to the view, allowing greater visual connection and a sense of spaciousness.
Exposed concrete was preserved in strategic points as a testimony to the original structure, valuing its raw, honest, and timeless presence. Vegetation acts as an active element of well-being, softening boundaries and reinforcing the idea of permanence.
More than a renovation, this is a poetic rescue: CEPSUM is transformed without losing its essence, acknowledging the marks of time while projecting new memories in the making. Here, movement is both physical and symbolic -- a gesture that perpetuates the memory of the place through renewal.
