Description

Urban revitalization

In the 1940s, the neighborhood was a veritable urban wasteland, consisting of dilapidated slums crammed together. At the government's instigation, a major redevelopment program was launched, resulting in the Jeanne-Mance housing project.
"Let's make way for modernity and the comfort of public housing."

The construction of the Jeanne-Mance housing complex (1959) had a major impact on the neighborhood, and the urban fabric gradually deteriorated!

Today, the Jeanne-Mance housing complex is a barrier between the ambitious Quartier des Spectacles and the very popular Quartier Latin.

Our proposal

Renewal of the urban fabric

Restoration of the original urban fabric.

Secondary axis (alley) extending within the blocks, promoting alternative modes of transportation and allowing access to residents.
New building front designed for several types of populations, allowing for densification of the area while promoting the creation of a neighborhood life open to its environment.
