One of our major design concerns was to develop a building which would both accommodate occupants with a great degree of human comfort as well as benefit the open space left over. Natural light and views to the outside were rigorously pursued. In organizing form and open space, we carefully considered the use of outside space with regard to extension of summer and shortening of winter.
With the frameworks and elements we were very conscious of reconsideration of the public domain. The future city plan seems to be concerned with skyways and atrium space.
The scale and elements should remain in continuity with past concerns. The village beginning should be remembered, as well as the beautiful oaks on the site. These things have something to do with pride and dignity.
In regard to the short term rental and expansion plans, the program requirements are organized in the modular fashion around a clearly defined movements and service systems framework. It is suggested that perhaps the most convenient utilization would be to use the vertical systems which serve the sports complex. This separate from the other systems and ideal for independent usage. The floor space to the east end would be ideal. However there is great flexibility offered by the planning to do with use and space.

The submission was also admired for the basic clarity of its idea, but reservations were expressed about the integration of certain of its design elements.
