Design Strategies:
Open Space: The master plan tried to create more open spaces in the forest, for citizens and visitors to use to rest and meet, enjoy and explore, learn about the site, eat and breathe fresh air, etc.
Axes: The existing axes on the site are maintained or extended. Furthermore, the master plan proposed a few new axes according to the contour, to integrate and control the whole site.
Site feature: Most of the site features before Hurricane Juan are respected, restored and enhanced, especially the trails and surrounding floras in the forest. Mixed with the axes, they formed a network. Some of the stubs and downed trees can be reserved as reminders of what they have been.
Interface: The beach could be considered as an interface between the sea and the forest. Similarly, the master plan suggested an interface between the forest and adjacent neighborhood. It is a wide curved buffer zone along the Point Pleasant Drive, welcoming the park's users with its approachable landscape.
Sea view: To see the sea through the forest may become a wonderful experience for people walking under the trees. The master plan created a series of "open corridors", providing people the views over the sea. This is exactly the attraction of a forest park near the sea. (BAZO Design International Limited)
