In plan, this house is positively divided into two parts: the sleeping area and the living space. The division is dramatized by a massive stone wall in which there is a single deeply set doorway. The living area is spacious and well organized and the bedroom area has been neatly planned with well shaped rooms. Members of the Jury liked the segregation of the plan, believing that the needs of housekeeping and the activities of the children were well considered. The setting in of the front door gives a nice emphasis and sense of depth to the entrance. The views across the living room from the entry, which is on a slightly lower level, were considered to be very pleasant. It also remarked that the house would be easy to build of familiar materials and, as it is a simple rectangle, it would be easy to roof.
