Beyond Limits
Beyond Limits is an external map of an internal journey. Based on the Balinese notion that rungs of consciousness are required to reach the afterlife, the Seven Chakras are expressed as a vertical paradisiacal garden.
The series begins with the Root Chakra as a gabion submerged in a pool of recycled water. The Sacral Chakra platform is covered with vines. Golden wheat, associated with nourishment and strength, covers the Solar Plexus Chakra. The Heart Chakra, concerning love, is covered with rose bushes. The Throat Chakra is expressed with an audible bamboo wind chime. The Third Eye platform, associated mental clarity, contains young ginkgo, revered for its memory¬ preserving properties. The Crown Chakra, the unrestrained energy of nirvana, is shown by an ethereal mist cloud. The viewer is meant to contemplate their own energy vortices, and be left with an image of inner wisdom of their physical body.
