Paradise... is on the horizon
Paradise.., is on the horizon is a contemporary tea garden and tea house. Both optimistic and pessimistic, this proposal uses a manipulated landscape to create temporary tableaux vivant of de-segregated social, economic, political, and cultural milieus.
You are greeted by the heady aroma of jasmine, mint, and camellia. Entering rows of camellias in successive stages of growth, the ground begins to rise up, a combination of increasing plant height and a web of tubing leading the eye towards open vertical honeycomb structures creating a forest before you. Underfoot, gravel slows your gait. Entering the forest, the web subsumes the honeycomb, creating an intimate community of open air tea houses. Overhead, the web embraces and protects. As it turns vertically, it creates privacy and diverts your movements. At Limes, you can part the web and slip into seclusion. The smell of tea steeping, water boiling, the clink of the tea cup, the feel of the gravel underfoot invite you to Lake a cup and stay a while.
