Message in the bottles
Like Papillon in the eponymous film, one of the gardens has broken free of the grided promenade, leapt over the forest, and set adrift on the Saint Lawrence.
Thousands of plastic PET bottles are held together by a vast fishing net. A light frame fixes the net that contains the bottles, which is moulded into a sculptural landscape, with light white clouds of bottles hanging above.
Not just the next paradise
After consuming all the versions of paradise presented at the festival, viewers will gaze out toward this unattainable paradise and ponder its message. Will it conjure up thoughts of escaping to the comforts of a secluded island? Or perhaps of a refugee about to complete the long journey to a Western paradise? Or maybe it will be seen as a mere by-product of our current consumer paradise.
Experience
Regardless of the viewers' internal interpretation, the installation will rise and fall with the waves and ebb in and out with the tides, thus emphasizing the movements of mother nature that envelope this collection of garden paradises and its visitors.
