This project is articulated according to three tableaux that a visitor will perceive following a very particular sequence, crossing the semi-public space linking Place-Royale to Côte de la Montagne. First, the façade of the Hazeur house, left bare on both sides, recalling the history of the site and its transformations; then, the fragile shell of the exhibition floors; finally, a wall sloping towards the back of the lot, inviting the newcomer to climb the different floors of the interpretation center. Like the party wall, a double glass wall is built facing it. Transparent, this space interprets the history of the site, experienced through the solid stone wall. The first floor overlooking Place-Royale is largely fenestrated, inviting discovery.
(CCC text)
The jury had recognized in the concept submitted in phase 1 a good functional understanding of the program: the evolution of the project has allowed this approach to be systematized towards an overly neutral avenue.
The jury does not recognize, in the formal party, the rigor of the functional analysis. The result offers an adequate and sober architecture, responding correctly to the order and this, in a modern language without ambiguity.
What is a quality of insertion becomes a deficiency in the animation of the center because of too much restraint.
