Characteristic of this area and delicacy of function, which got its framework by the project, required parametrical approach to projecting with emphasized esthetic requirements and layout, which should release a new identity of the street, linearity, dynamics, changeability and universal design are some of the most important motifs of this linear park, Guildford centre.
The purpose of the project is creating pedestrian zone together with bike lane and benignant functions, which is placed at park pavilions. The area is strongly linear and design does not disarrange pedestrians' intention of passing through this park in the shortest possibly time. Furthermore, using different levels of paths provides a complete freedom of walking. Changing park environment and facilities will provide that visitors of all age ranges stay in park much longer. A bridge-gate, which puts pedestrians above car traffic enable continuity of pedestrians', which puts them above car traffic. One of the major criteria for choosing materials was sustainability (wind field) and durability. Concrete ground, wooden construction of pavilions and mobiliar as well as grass areas are basic elements of the used materials. Pavement has simple design, but using two of the finest nature effects, light and shadows, it became changing and extraordinary pattern.
