Semiahmoo : High rise building / High rise plaza
Project represents a need for new approach in designing typology of multi-storey residence and segregation of living space for different segments of residents. In this case, square area and its function become a part of the structure.
Enclosing the city area in to it, the building does not reduce the city area and opens itself to citizens as well as environment.
Free spaces within the construction are directly connected to functional units, so there are private, semi-public and public areas. Segregation is not horizontal but vertical.
Using and designing colored wood plates on façade, make the object eye-catching and greatly contribute to the appearance of the whole surrounding. These colors represent a way that nature changing during the year.
Creating as much space as possible to pedestrians and bikers was the intention during projecting the city square. Intensity and strict linearity are widely spread across open square space. The square is dual; static and dynamic at the same time. Open areas for sitting, green areas, furniture and pavement surface complement function, experience and vividness of the area. Urban furniture is now transformed into modular element. Various range of difference ambient are available with transformation. It can be combined through 3 basics elements: bench, tree and wheat plan. Now, public square became a dynamic instead if static place.
