1. Introduction:
The City of Vancouver has formulated an EcoDensity Charter to deal with the change of the City in the 21st century. The City is seeking direction to allow higher density along the major corridor without creating unpleasant environment in the neighbor, such as busy traffic, rigid urbanize loosing the green and increasing service burden.
ln addition, the City is also commit to develop Vancouver 0 sustainable, livable, affordable, friendly and warm neighborhood and a new form of street landscape. A form of green and not having a feeling of busy and high density urban area.
2. Design concept:
- To hide the density & Roof garden:
Stack up part of the building to provide density and set bock 20 from level 2 and up to eliminate the solid and huge feeling along the street. In addition, the roof and the terrace to be the green roof, roof garden and public leisure area or the children outdoor playground. These leisure area is totally away from the traffic.
-Public park and ride & Commercial:
The park and ride is encouraging people to make use to the public transit for transportation to minimize energy used and decrease pollution. The bridge linking the other buildings to provide safety walking traffic, minimize traffic accidents.
3. Energy resources:
Geothermal and solar power are utilize for heating to provide low running cost and clean energy.
4. Other blocks along the street follow the same concept but only 6 levels high and set at North and South direction to allow wide open space between blocks in addition to the set back along the street.
