Description

Eco-zoning can enhance neighbourhoods by integrating community based eco-solutions. These may include:

• Better solar access combined with larger opens paces to provides opportunities for community gardens with increased biodiversity, and community activities to take root.

• The transformation of the back lane to centralize garbage and recycling collection at the neighbourhood level.

• The integration of community services such as water cisterns, geo-thermal fields, and energy collection.

• The use of common service walls between houses to reduce the exterior enveloppe.
• Creating a vibrant relationship between the interiors of the housing and the outdoor open spaces.

• The inclusion of roof and terrace gardens

• The introduction of car sharing programs and increased public transit.

• initiatives to educate the neighbourhood on sustainable practices.
