Description

By converting a mere 8% of the parking spaces in the Vancouver General Hospital parking garage to a green roof structure, we can create access to new open space in the urban fabric for residents of the surrounding community.

Reclaiming 8% is a flexible solution to urban density that encourages the use of already-built
structures, showcases a creative mix of programs, and enhances the relationship between community and sustainable living.

This simple transformation could be adopted for any of Vancouver's rooftop parking structures, offering its residents increased access to green space, decreasing the city's ecological footprint, and placing Vancouver at the forefront of the green roof movement.
