Description

Intentions: convergence of encounters

The object of the present project poses the challenge of investing a site characterized by the presence of a woodland of great landscape, ecological and social value, the Marcel-Laurin park. The intervention proposes to take advantage of the duality between novelty (building) and durability (park) and to create a place of cultural and natural convergence that unites landscape and architecture. The project thus allows for the enhancement of the site and its transformation into a living environment with identity for the population of Ville Saint-Laurent.

The precedence of the Marcel-Laurin park, a true vegetal setting in the city, directs the choices of implantation on the site with the linear park. While we often like to domesticate nature, here it is nature that articulates the architecture and spatial organization, according to functional and technical needs and desired experiential paths. The choice was made to be accessible to all users, as much by its location as by its volumetry and architectural expression.

The intention is to create a strong polarity at the entrance of the Marcel-Laurin park and to develop an attractiveness by placing the project in relation to its urban and vegetal environment so as to generate hybrid spaces and atmospheres conducive to meeting, exchange, discovery, contemplation and learning. The building's belonging to the city is expressed by its anchorage to the site and by the convergence of its vegetal, urban, dynamic (pedestrian and road), socio-cultural and didactic entities.
