Iceberg Shelters
A beacon on a cold, frozen river. Facated volumes lining the trait.
Though they mimic the environment--a cold environment with crisp, white material and form like the glare on a glacier or the sun on a mountain--their clear, dynamic shape appearing upon the horizon after a bend in the river offers the relief of warm rest. An Iceberg Shelter creates the opportunity for the traveler to pause and enter an opening appearing along a facet in the Shelter's form. Inside, the wind is blocked by double paned-wood exterior and sail cloth. Welcoming benches of hardwood ask the visitor if they would like to sit and rest. Warm blankets are available to hail the chill, as is the conversation from strangers dropping by: from another Iceberg formation across the river, or alongside the one in which you are resting.
