It provides a physical presence in a fiat landscape, offers a slide hill in the winter and thermal heat sink protection to spaces within.
South-west facing public piaza is located between pavilion and the pond. The south deck is shaded by an overhead array of solar panels and is designed as picnic and BBQ area. The north deck houses the Bird Sanctuary Forest, which extends into the landscape beyond. Pavilion space contains ail functions identified in the program list. Stakeholder spaces, storage, meeting and change rooms are accessed from an inner Court yard, which can be closed off when not in use. The public washrooms are accessible from the south deck. The pond is sized to facilitate public skating to promote winter time activity in the context of a Sport Park. To further expand winter usage, local ice sculpture competitions con be held on the pond in conjunction with the main event down town.
