Keeping in mind the current demographics and geographic of the area in question, the main focus with redesigning the area around the bus shelter came about with the aim to create positive interaction and to brighten up the area. The structure provides heat in the winter and a cooling during the warmer months.
The bus shelter we chose to focus on is the one located on the corner of Sherbrooke and Jo_re street. Using light in an interactive way to create a safer environment was one of the main principles surrounding our design. We used light in a way that it contributes to the sustainability on a social sphere. On the structure we designed, we placed a touch LED screen in the centre that is used as a means to make the waiting experience more enjoyable, altering and shortening the perception of time. To accommodate some other bus users we placed seating on either side of the screen. We want the area to be a commu - nal area that helps The climate control feature is an augmented benefit wich provides added comfort to individuals during their waiting experience. During the winter period the vents release warm air and in the summer periods they release cool air. The climate is sealed in the structure through air curtains. Above the structure we will be a vegetal roof to give the modern look of the structure back into the nature of the space. On the left side of the bus stop we de - signed a circular seating area with LED lights around it to provide added comfort for users. The idea was to join the seats, the space, and the lights in a symbiotic and homogeneous way. The lighting in the space will be produced in part by solar energy stored during the day from panels that will be placed on the top of the existing bus shelter without changing the bus shelter itself. The original idea was to have the panels on the new structure but due to its position, it would get less sun light than the top of the original bus shelter.
