Cargo Park
The parking lot on 10th Avenue Bikeway & Yukon St, north of City Hall, is the ideal location for recycling shipping containers into affordable residential units that are raised above a ground floor park: Cargo Park. Within walking distance to valuable amenities and Broadway-City Hall Station, Cargo Park has also allocated space for public bike storage and Zipcars to help connect the community. The building in the centre of Cargo Park is a 24h-bakery that grows some of its own food on the green roofs of the residential buildings and from the fruit trees which line the streets.
Residential units are 10m x 10m. Occupants enter from the north, where the recycled shipping containers are connected to stairs that have access to the roof. Most views look south towards the park of City Hall.
Zipcars are located on the ground floor, underneath the residential buildings on the north side of Cargo Park. Broadway-City Hall Station is adjacent the north-west corner of the site and Skytrain commuters can lock their bikes in Cargo Park, while under the suppervision of the 24h-bakery.
