It had been much time since human 'SETTLED DOWN' and have their house. After the end of agrarian society, labor necessity decreased and the number of family also decreased. And nowadays, PHYSICAL DISTANCE between people is NOT IMPORTANT anymore. Internet. FACEBOOK are connecting people world widely. The family relationship has disappeared and family had been taken to pieces. But we are insisting that 'THIS KIND of relationship' is NOT sufficient .
Vancouver has great natural environment and low density of population. Many ELDERLY COUPLES whom their sons composed 'their' family and FOREIGN STUDENTS immigrated alone are living in Vancouver. We composed 4 people of an elderly couple and two foreign students. With great condition of Vancouver, we suggest new relationship accompanied by physical distance to different 3 groups. We call it ' THE SECONDARY FAMILY.
Historically, trees are a KEY of economy of Canada. We focused on THE CYCLE that fallen leaves become nutriments for another tree. We suggest a SYSTEM OF WALL which family members can COMPOST with fallen leaves and raindrops streaming down through roof. The center yard constructed with the WALL will give 3 groups a familiarity and experiences filling up their spaces theirselves. Also, the HEAT radiated on the process will ATTRACT THE FAMILY just like the fireplaces in the past.
Through this system, family can grow a VEGETABLE GARDEN or SHARE some compost with NEIGHBORHOOD. In addition, through this center yard. ANOTHER TYPE of communication with neighbor can be occurred.
