Description

The pavilion is a bridge and a projector; as a projector, it superimposes disparate contexts and architectures. Following the desire to expose the Canadian architecture in all the complexity of its full context, 360-degrees panoramas are filmed on the site of each Canadian project, matching the same 15-minute rotation of the bridge.

As night falls, the (re)turning bridge will project an architectural spectacle. The recorded panoramas of Canadian architectural and landscape contexts are projected from the bridge as they were filmed, in their 15-minute arc. Reflected through a stilled lens in the water, the exhibition is rendered onto the façades surrounding the canal. It is a (re)turning bridge that links complementary conditions.

The bridge is designed to revolve from bank to bank, reconnecting on a 15-minute cycle. It celebrates the moment of suspension when crossing between places. The wood decking and viewing bench rotate about an anchoring post in the canal, and the free end floats on a pontoon equipped with a fisherman's inboard motor. Installed in the Rio dell'Arsenale during the Biennale, the (re)turning bridge will be a new passage to the exhibitions - a rhythmic threshold over the canal.
