This ideas competition invites designers to create urban installations or public spaces offering a singular experience, specific to the winter season. Project ideas must be creative, intelligent, original and participatory, conducive to pedestrian exploration and dynamic, making outdoor spaces come alive every day and attract more users.
The location, within the province of Quebec, is at the discretion of the participants , but it must be real and clearly identified. You're invited to choose "common" places, used by the people on a daily basis rather than the places already invested by existing events. The propositions can range from pinpoint interventions to larger scale ideas, with everything in between. In brief, there is no definite goal to the projects other than to help the urban environment emulate the everyday winter city life and experience it in new and unconventional ways.

General comments
The jury notes the great interest that the competition has aroused in both the "professionals" and "students" categories. It also underlines the quality of the submitted proposals.
Some proposals could be grouped into three categories of "families" developing similar intentions. They were identified as ideas developing either modes of transportation, more artistic interventions or even destination places specific to winter.
The jury's deliberations were the subject of important and lively debates regarding urban design approaches. The question of the feasibility of the proposals, even though it was a competition of ideas, was also raised. Thus, all the projects submitted also allowed for interesting discussions on the approaches to be recommended for future concretization and implementation of the ideas.
The duality between summer versus winter use, cold versus warm was put forward and appealed to many of the members.
Several proposals opted for a narrative tone, anchoring the winter urban project primarily in small "revealing" gestures rather than large projects.
