The project stems from the idea to insert a new modern building in the center of the court, which can interact with the volumes already existing and which encompasses the required features of multi-purpose exhibition space and amphitheatre.
A central elliptical plan was chosen which is well adapted to the function of an amphitheater and fits well and be inserted in the rectangular courtyard. In the need to have more space as possible around the new building, the exhibition space has been placed on the ground floor while the amphitheater, more spacious, has been placed on the top floor: a flared profile of the building is derived, which is been treated in general appearance to a flower made of petals in the shape of sails, The petals are perimetric walls placed alternately in three rows, with a double curve form as they are segments of three concentric ellipsoids.
The petals made of concrete or perhaps simply in steel structure covered with stone slabs, as well as support the perimeter of the various floors, fully support the roof of the amphitheater and its cantilevered volume of the toilet in steel frame. The roof of the amphitheater is made of radial trusses in lamellar wood whit monaco in common and steel cables chains, resting on a continuous elliptical beam in turn resting on sheves protruding from the inner row of petals; half-height of the cover has placed a continuous ribbon window that illuminates the amphitheater together with the side windows of the niches, positioned between two rows of petals.
Finally between the ceiling of the exhibition space and the floor of the amphitheater there is a resulting space that can be used as a technical volume for the air conditioning system.
