BASEMENT
The old seminar complex consists of parts of the building, arranged around a beautiful courtyard. This courtyard is an icon property of the city, very beautiful, but outer space as open, does not contribute to communication between different areas of school life and also to the functionality of the remainder of the building, as a typical medieval cloister.
At the same time here would be natural and emblematic addition. Addition means places Gathering. Gathering means a strong central base to achieve a better integration of the entire school environment that currently seems to disperse by corridors in the old building. How can we get here a solid foundation of support will be vital cultural, educational and research current renovation of the school of Architecture in Quebec?
Building a basement!
Can we really build the basement, submerging humbly gathering spaces in the courtyard thus winning a surface of around 2000 m2. Everything is built below the surface with the exception of the new slopes that dialogue with the white walls and peaceful monastic space of a typical seventeenth century space.
