Collaboration corridor
Creativity is driven by being exposed to new innovations and new ways of thought. Architecture's future relies on this ability for constant creation and imaginative solutions. Students must be given the opportunity to expose this level of creativity. By enhancing the Sharing of design ideas, problems and solutions, collaboration introduces the most vital piece in providing this community of discovery.
Laval University School of Architecture can present their students with a new way of understanding by provid¬ing a collaboration corridor to the historically present learning environment. The collaboration corridor provides a flexible space for constant display of work. The addition reinvents the existing circula¬tion by creating a parallel path of display, pin-up and critique spaces. While maintaining the historical facade of the building, the addition runs parallel to the existing building and only interrupts the historically powerful space at two bridge locations. With this, the existing circulation allows for constant views into the new display showcase encouraging students to collaborate and be exposed to work of their fellow classmates.
The collaboration corridor becomes a path of intégration among students as well as with the neighboring community. By providing a space for constant creative display, the students and the public alike will be inspired to search for their true design identity and creativity.
