Creating a new vision for the urban core, the concept relies on the past and present of Sudbury to shape its future in local, regional, national, and international settings.
The concept considers rail lands as a significant opportunity for an effective repurposing of the land, optimizing the use of land within the core while rail lines re-main intact (The green Roof).
Adding a milestone to the City of Greater Sudbury's Regreening Program, the idea offers a new set of landscapes to the City.
The proposed development strategy aims to respond to the results of the Outlook for Growth to 2046 and targets both reference and high scenarios in phasing strategies.
The five adjacent neighborhoods will be involved in finalizing and polishing the design through workshops and open houses in which the design idea for new features, new activities, new developments is polished based on residents/users' requirements and benefits. Besides Sudburians, different groups will be part of the process of developing the design/plan among them financial institutions, mining sector, the CPR, and development sector stand out.
