The Gesù behind the scene
To attend a show at the Gesù is an exceptional event. It is almost like being part of the show or behind the scene; the church's facade is the scene in which the actors, the elements, the musicians and the characters are living.
At the lower level, four virtual and round windows catch a sight of the inside of the theater. When performances are going on, these virtual openings broadcast images of the assistance. Thus, the experience of the performance begins outside, on the sidewalk.
The use of the color red identifies the Gesù as being part of the ''Quartier des spectacles''. From the streets around, we can see the church floating on a glowing red base while the rest of the facade stays in the obscurity to preserve the sanctity of the Gesù.
