Inner light
In the Montrealer's collective imagination, the Gesù is a symbolic venue because of its double vocation: liturgical and cultural.
The idea is to create the illusion that the church's inner light is gradually spreading out through each window, hole, fold, pore and scar of the building, to show its inner life. On the church's skin and on the buildings around, the dancing shadows generated by the slow movements of the theater's lights will create a discreet outdoor urban performance.
We also propose a more discreet and more contemporary signaling, inspired by the existing urban identity (when signalization and furniture) of the Quartier des spectacles. In continuity with the street, the main stairs could be revitalized by illuminating them and using them as cultural display board.
