GENERAL INFORMATION ON THE COMPETITOR

Description

The Laval University is a prestigious site in the heart of Old Quebec and it is heritage of humanity, so it is of great importance to intervene in a respectful way to the existing architecture.

The evolution of the site highlights a desire for continuity, as we seek to create new architecture that gives life to the existing one and continue the intent to evolve. The new elements will be an icon for the school and the city through a subtle language.

We provide the School of Architecture a place for exchange between students and the public, for exhibitions, activities and conferences, an appropriate place to work, which is integrated into the site through its transparency and the combination of elements abstracted from local architecture, which generates the opportunity for a public square.

We also want to give lite to the central courtyard of the School of Architecture through an amphitheater that integrates to the site, not only in form, but by the materials used, it's role and status of public space, which results from the search of a node of movement and interaction.

By giving this location to each intervention element we generate two major anchors with the intention of linking all areas of the University so that they become social networking sites, reusing existing buildings streams and creating new axes of movement that allow users to identify themselves with the site.
