Of these five competing projects, the project by the Charlebois, Plante, Prochazka team is the only one in which the architects opted to move the main entrance to the north façade. This modification is directly inspired by the term transformation. According to the architects, the entrance perpendicular to the original axis is the modification that allows the church to be transformed into a museum. According to them, it allows a desacralization of the space and a transfer towards an architectural order specific to the river, thus the city of Rimouski. The jury appreciated the formal work done on the entrance, but deplored the excessive use of rural references in a cultural context where the museum was called to reflect its vocation as an institution dedicated to contemporary art.
(CRC text 2004)
This project is the only one where the architects opted to move the entrance to the north façade in order to give the Museum more direct contact with the river and the city. The exterior volume above the entrance was of interest to some members of the jury, but the overuse of rural references in this context was lamented. Indeed, the Musée régional de Rimouski is located in an urban environment and wishes to reflect its vocation as an institution dedicated to current art.
